The mayor of Assisi is the center-left candidate for president of Umbria

The Mayor of Assisi Stefania Proietticivica, is the candidate for president of the Umbria Region of the center-left and civics. In fact, she accepted the proposal that was put forward to her by the coalition: a broad field that unites the Democratic Party, the 5 Star Movement, the Left and the Greens, the Socialists and civic Catholic movements. Together they form Un patto avanti, più Italia viva and Azione. Therefore, she will challenge the outgoing governor Donatella Teseimember of the Northern League, re-nominated by the centre-right.

The profile

Stefania Proietti, 49, was elected mayor on October 4, 2021 and confirmed on June 21, 2016. She has been president of the Province of Perugia since December 18, 2021.

Proietti graduated in Mechanical-Energy Engineering from the University of Perugia. She obtained a PhD in Industrial Engineering – as stated on the website of the Municipality of Assisi – and is the author of 70 scientific publications and inventor of patents in the energy and environmental sector.

As mayor of Assisi, she is a speaker at the international climate conferences of the United Nations (Cop22, 23 and 24), a member of Icclei as an observer at the United Nations, invited to the international conference Global climate action summit and to report on the issues of the environment and Peace at a national and international level and was elected vice president of the association Città per la Fraternità.
