The mayor of Arce reassures the neighbors with the works in La Verbena

The mayor of Arcos, Isidoro Gambín, has appealed to the tranquility of the residents of La Verbena due to the concern, he assures, that other political parties are created due to the continuity of the work. Specifically, it refers to the statements of the opposition group Alternativa Independiente Progresistas (Ai-Pro), which has been criticizing for some time now the slow pace of work to consolidate the land and the desperation of the 200 families affected. As Gambín recalls, the Government of the nation will finish the current phase of works next March according to the estimates of the technical team led by the architect Emilio Yanes and the company Tragsa, and that in the meantime there are already another million and a half euros committed of the Junta de Andalucía and a half of the Diputación, with which the following phases of works are guaranteed, explains the mayor. Gambín adds that his role and that of the City Council is to manage and remain attentive to the commitments of the other administrations. However, he thinks that the only thing pending is to “unify criteria” for the next phase, the one destined to the redevelopment of the neighborhood and the recovery of public spaces.

Last December it was decided to create an exclusively technical commission for the new phase of works that would still have that meeting pending in view of the imminent intervention. Isidoro Gambín has asked the opposition to support this matter and not only limit itself to criticizing, in his conviction that “a lot has already been done for La Verbena.” In fact – points out the councilor from Arce -, since 2015 they have not stopped the actions to stop the landslide of the west slope and, in particular, in the surroundings of La Verbena. However, today many families have not been able to recover their homes even though they still pay the mortgage in many cases and without being able to enjoy the illusion of a home of their own.
