Veracruz, Ver.- After the crime of a 13-year-old teenager in Tecolutla, Veracruz, for which a 15-year-old boy, who was a classmate from his school and who is accused of allegedly committing the murder, is being detained, criminal lawyer Arturo Nicolás Baltazar said that the maximum sentence for which he could remain in an internment is 5 years.
He noted that in cases where the defendants are over 14 but under 18 and commit crimes such as murder, the law considers that they can be rehabilitated, so they must receive treatment to reintegrate them into society.
“Unfortunate, it is a true tragedy and once again to witness this fact that shocks the municipality of Tecolutla and the entire state of Veracruz, to see how and with what ease a person is deprived of life, in this case a woman, a girl”.
He pointed out that the young man “is going to be prosecuted, the hearing is already taking place, the crime that he allegedly committed deserves internment and according to the law the maximum sentence is 5 years.”
The lawyer said that what the family of the murdered young woman is suffering is unfortunate, however, he considered that asking for greater sentences is not the solution, what must be done is to work on the education of minors who are less and less tolerant to frustration and it is that it has emerged that the motive for the crime is that the young woman refused to have an engagement with the detainee.
The lawyer insisted that young people should be educated from home, not just left on the internet where they get instant satisfaction, which leads them to think that everything is easy and fast, but in reality it is not so, they should be guided so that they have a good management of their emotions, he stressed.
