Another presumption of police arbitrariness is coming to light from what happened in Thessaloniki after Wednesday’s demonstration for Tempe crime. In the video taken from a live broadcast on Facebook, the arrest team of
checkmate brings in a young man with his hands tied. This is about the young man who can be seen in the videos being beaten by the police on Iasonidou Street, while people were shouting “Let the child go”.

In the audio-visual material we are publishing, during the arraignment, another young man walks next to them, who is probably his friend. As can be seen in the video, he does not move aggressively towards the police and does not do any illegal actions. He’s probably just following his adopted friend who’s just been hit by the MAT.
And yet, even though it is obvious that he has not committed any illegal act and even though it is broad daylight on the most central street of Thessaloniki with many journalists recording the moment on video, the MAT does not hesitate to catch
the young man and to lead him to the same place as the other brought.
The arrests then turned into arrests. What crime did this kid commit and is he on trial? The image speaks for itself:
