Maserati describes this MC20 as an “early prototype” car with a retractable roof. He wears a special camouflage foil that shows the clouds that the crew should enjoy overhead.

In front of the A-pillar, this version, so far called the MC20 Convertible, is identical to the coupe. Of course, the roof line and the rear part are different. However, Maserati does not yet offer a good side or rear angle for direct comparison. However, the top appears to have arched parts and the glass engine cover is gone in favor of the roof storage space.

The open version will probably use the same 3-liter V6 Nettuno double-supercharged engine. The power unit has an output of 463 kilowatts, 621 hp and 729 newton meters of maximum torque. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission sends power to the rear wheels.

The coupe starts at 100 kilometers per hour in 2.9 seconds and the maximum speed is 323 km / h. Due to the added weight of the roof and the necessary reinforcements in the floor, the version with a retractable roof will probably be a bit slower.

According to Maserati’s product plan, the open MC20 will go on sale in 2022. The exact timing of the launch is not yet available, but the carmaker says the revelation may not be too far away.
