The Martian Chariot 2.0: Workshop on Spacecraft Design and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Sharjah

SHARJAH, 20th August, WAM / The Sharjah Academy for Space and Astronomy Science and Technology of the University of Sharjah organized a workshop entitled “The Martian Chariot 2.0”, which was presented by the Planetarium team over a period of three days, with the aim of enriching scientific and practical knowledge among high school and university students and amateurs in the astronomical and space fields. And develop their future skills by learning about the principles of using advanced tools and techniques in science and engineering.

The workshop included many theoretical and applied areas, where the participants were introduced to the importance of artificial intelligence in designing spacecraft and how to control them remotely using its applications and space programs, and presented the missions of space robots and methods of preparing them, in addition to introducing them to the components required to complete the installation of the vehicle, and testing the initial code responsible for Controls that make the vehicle move easily and with some elemental intelligence.

Participants reviewed models of Martian chariots that were assembled and tested for their movements and behavior to avoid obstacles on a special platform that was developed to represent the surface of Mars.

Marwan Shweiki, Director of the Planetarium and Community Outreach at the Academy, stressed the importance of organizing such activities and interactive workshops that would contribute to refining the knowledge and skills of the new generation of students to keep pace with the general orientation of the state and the Emirate of Sharjah towards space and astronomy technology.
