Next Saturday, September 24, starting at 11:30, the “pink tide against breast cancer” will return to the streets of the city as before, after the virtual format of the last two years following the coronavirus pandemic.
The Councilor for Sport, Evaristo Olcina, today presented the eighth edition of the ‘March against breast cancer’, which avails itself of the collaboration of the Municipality of Guadalajara, and which is included in the program of Fairs and Festivals of the city, which continues with activity next weekend.
Olcina, who was accompanied by the vice president of the Spanish Cancer Association of Guadalajara, José María Jiménez Bustos, appreciated the organization of this type of activity, which underlines the importance of “promoting preventive measures against a disease that science has cornered more every day, but we must continue to raise awareness to promote healthy actions, ”he indicated.
In this sense, the Councilor for Sport, who highlighted “the joint work carried out by the City Council with the Association against Tumors”, anticipated that in the near future “we will present a new edition of healthy paths with different routes and suitable distances to all the public “.
For his part, Jiménez Bustos stressed the importance of living a healthy life to help prevent breast cancer, which “currently affects one in eight women”; in addition to performing mammograms and ultrasound scans, since “an early diagnosis” is essential to overcome this type of tumor in most cases.
The march will start at 11:30 in La Concordia Park, with a tour of the streets of the Mayor; Main square; via Miguel Fluiters; avenue of the army; via Cifuentes; Paseo Doctor Fernández Iparraguirre and finish line in the same park as La Concordia.
When finished, there will be a Zumba masterclass and a ‘flashmove’.
Registration, up to now 700 people have registered, can be done both online and through https://www.rockthesport.com/es/evento/marea-rosaeither in person, at the Association’s headquarters in Guadalajara (avda. Santa María Micaela, 106) or at the ‘Pensando Bonito’ shop, located at number 5, Juan Miranda street.
The price is 10 euros, including t-shirt and number for the drawing of numerous gifts, healthy experiences, which will take place on October 19, when the World Day for the Fight against Breast Cancer will be celebrated.
