The Serbian, already certain of first place, prevails 6-3, 6(5)-7, 7-6(2) in the marathon with Daniil Medvedev, now certain of elimination: now he will challenge the American Taylor Fritz. The second semifinalist of the Red Group is Andrei Rublev: the Russian comes from behind Stefanos Tsitsipas with the score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 and will face the Norwegian Casper Ruud.

TSITSIPAS-RUBLEV 1-2
Andrey Rublev will be Casper Ruud’s opponent in the semifinals: the Russian, in fact, beat Stefanos Tsitsipas (3-6, 6-3, 6-2) in comeback, closing the Red Group in second place behind Novak Djokovic. The number 7 in the ATP ranking starts badly and in the second serving round he is already forced to give up his serve to Tsitsipas: the Greek takes the second break point and closes the first set on 6-3.

In the second, the balance persists until the eighth game, when Rublev finds the break that allows him to go from 3-3 to 6-3 with which he evens the score. At that point, the Greek, who also has the opportunity to take back his serve, gets nervous and gives his turn to serve even at the beginning of the third set: Rublev takes the lead to 3-1 and at that point Tsitsipas exits the match . Two consecutive double faults give the Russian the second break of the set, who thus closes 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. With this victory, the number 7 in the world remains in the running for the title and launches the challenge to the Norwegian Casper Ruud for a place in the final of the Nitto ATP Finals 2022.

MEDVEDEV-DJOKOVIC 1-2
The match of relative importance, at least from the point of view of the Red Group standings, between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev proves to be one of the most intense and exciting of these Nitto ATP Finals 2022. In the end, the Serbian wins in Turin, although being sure of first place, he imposes himself 6-4, 6(5)-7, 7-6(2), achieving his third victory in as many games, while the Russian, already eliminated before taking the field, says goodbye without success. In the first set, the break in the seventh game in favor of Nole made the difference. At the start of the second set, the five-time winner at the Finals still has a break point to kill the match, but he doesn’t exploit it and on the contrary must subsequently cancel three set points before reaching 5-5, one of these with a narrow forehand after a very long exchange of 32 rounds.

It goes to the tie-break, Medvedev fights for honor while Nole (forced to change contact lenses due to an eye problem) dissolves with a double fault: the partial goes to the Russian and the match continues in the third set. In the decisive part, the game slips away without a break until the eighth game, when Medvedev avoids the possible 3-5 in favor of Nole. The following is the longest game of the match: after fifteen minutes and two break points cancelled, Medvedev takes it up 5-4, but when it’s time to serve for the match he loses his serve. The tie-break is inevitable, which smiles at the Serbian (7-2). Now, it will be semifinal against Taylor Fritzbut the American “risks” finding himself as an opponent with a Djokovic tested by a match lasting 3 hours and 11 minutes of play.
