Roadfour Ostend is located at the North Sea Aviation Center (NSAC). The Brussels start-up wants to host the final assembly of its SEAGLE in the new location. An amphibious aircraft used to put out forest fires. “Our aircraft parts come from different countries, but the intention is to assemble the fire extinguisher in one place, then assemble it,” says Luc Stultjens of Roadfour.
“It is not yet certain that we will assemble the aircraft in Ostend. But now we want to check whether this is possible here in Ostend. That’s why we are already there. We are also thinking about two other possible places in France.” continues Stultjens. “But as a Belgian start-up, we first want to explore our country’s resources as broadly as possible. We want to see if we can find good partners here. If we get a lot of support from the Flemish and federal government And even if we can do well with companies that build leave to their country and deliver them to us”.
Suppose the company decides to stay in Ostend for the long term, that would be good for 450 jobs. At the beginning of next year it will be decided whether the final assembly will take place in Ostend.
