From that stage, with Zitti e Buoni, their triumphal march to the top of the world began in 2021. And on that stage they are preparing to return, super guests of the third evening of Sanremo, Thursday 9 February, after having symbolically opened last year’s edition. Maneskin are the surprise announced by Amadeus on Tg1 at 8 pm, guest in the studio with Damiano, Victoria and Thomas – absent Ethan, at home ill – on the day of the release of the new album ‘Rush!’, which has already climbed to first place of the iTunes chart in 20 countries. “The news is that tonight I am the fourth Maneskin”, joked Amadeus introducing the artists into the studio: “Ethan get well soon”, the wish of the artistic director, who had launched a ‘teaser’ in the 1.30 pm edition and then waited for the arrival of his guests in the Saxa Rubra car park.
“We can’t wait to go back to Sanremo – Damiano said – we hoped for it, it’s always an honor for us”. “I invite them every year regardless – Amadeus echoed him – because Sanremo is strongly linked to them, it has an edge when the Maneskin are there”. The group has depopulated in America, but for the glam wedding with which it celebrated the release of Rush! yesterday at Palazzo Brancaccio, organized by Spotify, ‘officiated’ by Alessandro Michele, guests, among others, Paolo Sorrentino, Paulo Dybala, Baz Luhrmann has chosen his city: “Rome has the Maneskins in its heart”, underlined Victoria. “The disc is going very well, all the wonderful comments are coming from the fans”.
They will arrive at the Ariston on Thursday evening, “also because they were in the United States until the day before, they come specifically for Sanremo. You will see what will happen with the Maneskin, it will be pure energy”, promised Amadeus. With 320 certifications worldwide, with 18 diamond discs, 253 platinum discs and 48 gold discs, the band is nominated at the Grammy Awards 2023 – scheduled for February 5 in Los Angeles – in the Best New Artist category, after having closed 2022 among its laurels: among the awards received, Favorite Rock Song at the American Music Awards with “Beggin'” and Best Alternative Video at the MTV Video Music Awards for the video clip of “I wanna be your slave” (the first time in absolute for an Italian artist), a song that was also awarded the Top Rock Song award at the Billboard Music Awards. Maneskin were also awarded Best New Alternative Artist at the iHeart Music Awards 2022, where for the next edition they received two nominations: Best Group Of The Year and Alternative Artist Of The Year. After the festival, they will leave on February 23rd for the world tour, which will stop all over Europe touching the most important arenas in Italy and will end with four special event-dates at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, on July 20th and 21st, and at the San Siro in Milan, on 24 (sold out) and 25 July. 500,000 tickets have already been sold for the 2023 concerts.
