The manager of the Suez Canal hinted at the culprit for blocking traffic

The head of the Suez Canal administration, Osama Rabia, has hinted at the culprit for the six-day roadblock. He stated this during a press conference, world media reported.

He assured that the investigation will reach those responsible for the accident and will determine the parties who will pay compensation. At the same time, the Suez Canal is not responsible for the incident and is considered the affected country, Rabia added. The management is also exploring the possibility of providing incentives for transport lines.

“Strong winds have never caused the canal to close. Yes, that could have been the factor that led to the accident. But don’t forget that the first person in charge and the one who steers the ship is the captain, “said the head of the Suez Canal administration. He recalled that the pilot performs an advisory function, and the final decision depends on the captain.

Earlier, Mohab Mamish, an adviser to the Egyptian president on the development of seaports and the Suez Canal, announced that navigation on the Suez Canal has resumed. Rabia claims that the congestion from the ships is planned to be removed in three or three and a half days, in connection with which the canal will work around the clock.

The giant Ever Given vessel, run by Taiwanese company Evergreen Group, ran aground on March 23 in the southern Suez Canal. The ship was heading from China to Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Earlier it was reported that the container ship accidentally deviated from the course due to strong winds.
