The current board of directors is now pulling the rip cord and is calling another meeting on Friday, January 22nd, just a few weeks after the most recent extraordinary general meeting.
“I’ve been active in several clubs for 20 years. I have never seen a board that has demonstrably done a good job being heaped with criticism and insulted – in an insulting and mostly unjustified manner, “explained board member Professor Dr. Dr. Martin Hörning in a press conference on Monday. Now a point has been reached where the board of directors agrees that things cannot go on like this.
In view of the massiveness of the hostility, it is time to ask the question of trust. Professor Hörning: “Since association law does not provide for this – in contrast to politics – the board has no choice but to convene a general meeting.”
The new management team is then elected by postal vote. All voting members should have the opportunity to take part.
The current board of directors raises allegations in particular against the former chairman Dirk Wilhelm. This has “hijacked” the former Facebook page of the association and is now using it privately for his own purposes. This side is also the scene of numerous hostilities. “We had to watch impotently how discussions arose there in which the content was not true,” explained Professor Martin Hörning. The association then created its own Facebook page.
As Dirk Wilhelm explained when asked by WESTFALEN-BLATTES, he had not hijacked the Facebook page. “It’s a Facebook group and it’s tied to my private Facebook account. I didn’t know any better at the time, ”said Wilhelm, explaining the problem of not simply being able to pass the group on. In the description, however, he expressly pointed out that it was the former group of the club.
“All 855 members of this group know what was written and what was not. I also invite everyone to visit the site to have a look at their career, ”Wilhelm comments on the accusation that the group is being hounded against the board. “There is actually no need for any comment on my part,” says the drenker.
He did not want to comment further – as it did immediately after his resignation. “I ask you to look forward to the cause and see what we have. What we have is that since October 4th – which was massively advertised by me and later by the board – we have 230 members of the association who are eligible to vote ”, explained Dirk Wilhelm. At the end of the week, they would have the opportunity to democratically elect a board from among their own ranks. Dirk Wilhelm is firmly convinced that this development would not have happened without his and the resignation of cashier Katrin Meyer in October.
In a policy paper that he published on Facebook, plans are listed to take the process of democratization that has begun even further. You can also read there that his team includes Katrin Meyer, Martin Ahlborn, Martin Hoppe, Paul Weskamp, Rainer Lenzing and Thorsten Schäfer.
It was not yet clear on Monday who from the current board of directors will run for the election. As Professor Dr. Dr. Martin Hörning explained that people will not be elected in blocks. There will be a personality choice.
This will now proceed a little differently than initially planned. The links to the online conference service “Zoom” that have been sent up to now are no longer valid. Members who are entitled to vote will be sent a new zoom link. The sponsoring members receive a YouTube link with which they can also take part in the general meeting. It should not be possible to use the microphone. Communication on both channels should be made possible via the chat function.
“It would be good if interested parties log in well before the start of the event, preferably at 6.30 p.m.,” asks Professor Dr. Dr. Martin Hörning. This is necessary because member lists have to be compared with the participants. Registrations are only possible with real names, so that there is legal certainty.
The board of the association also wants to strive for this in the postal vote which is due after the meeting. He therefore hopes that the motion to set up an independent electoral commission will be approved.
Furthermore, the postal voting documents should be sent to an independent notary. “In any case, we want to avoid being suspected that this election is being manipulated in whatever way,” explained Professor Martin Hörning.
Board member Hubertus Hartmann stated: “We are facing democratic elections. And if the members want a new board, then so be it. ”
