The management of ERT is preparing to abolish the five-day work – POESY Complaint – 2024-03-06 19:24:08

The government is trying to abolish the five-day work at ERT, despite the collective labor agreement for journalists working in the public media and the wider public sector, complains POESY.

Specifically, according to the announcement of the Panhellenic Federation of Editors’ Unions (POESY), “the management of ERT is in a hurry to utilize the provisions of the recent anti-labor law 5053/2023 and to abolish, in fact, the five-day work”.

As POESY points out, the management of ERT makes use of the anti-labor law passed by the ND and according to the statements of the then Minister of Labor, Adonis Georgiadis and many government officials, “it was intended to crack down on “black” and undeclared work”.

“The Federation and the journalistic Unions of the country are coordinating with the ERT unions in order to determine their reaction, which will be commensurate with the radical overturning of the fundamental rights of workers in the public and private sector with meager compensation”, concludes the Panhellenic Federation of Unions Editors.

POESY’s announcement in detail:

“The Boards of Directors of the Panhellenic Federation of Editors’ Unions (POESY) and the country’s Editors’ Associations (ESIEA, ESIEM-TH, ESIETHSTEE, ESIEPEN and ESPIT) were informed with indignation that the management of ERT is in a hurry to utilize the provisions of the recent anti-labor law 5053/ 2023 and to abolish, in fact, the five-day work in violation of the collective labor agreement for journalists working in the public media. and the wider public sector.

The management of ERT is making use of a law which, according to the statements of the then Minister of Labor, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis and a multitude of government officials, was intended to crack down on “black” and undeclared work, and the harmful effects of which we had protested in time.

The Federation and the journalistic Unions of the country are coordinating with the ERT unions in order to determine their reaction, which will be commensurate with the radical reversal of fundamental rights of workers in the public and private sector with meager compensation.”
