The Silesian Voivodeship in southern Poland is following an intensive search for the bomb and its breeder. The man and the beast fled to the woods on Friday in front of officials who came to take the animal away from him on court orders.
According to the TV station TVN24 the breeder, a former soldier, bought a bomb kitten a few years ago in the Czech Republic and has been taking good care of it ever since. However, bombs are among the dangerous animals whose private breeding is prohibited in Poland.
The man was convicted several times for endangering, until the court finally ran out of patience and ordered the confiscation of the feline beast and its placement in the Poznan Zoo. On Friday, the staff of the Poznań Zoo, accompanied by police officers, came to the village of Ogrodzienieci, located about 40 kilometers northeast of Katowice, for a bomb to an illegal breeder.
However, the breeder resisted their efforts – allegedly threatened them with a knife – and went with the beast “on a leash” to the fields and forests in the vicinity. According to the media, the director of the zoo, Ewa Zgrabczyńska, who accused him of keeping the animal in bad conditions, told the media that the cougar was “his child”, whom he had raised and would never give up.
