The Man Who Refused Military Mobilization to Care for his Parents Receives Probation

The man said he had to take care of his parents while his brother was fighting.

In the Volyn region, a conscript was tried who received a summons for military service, but refused to be mobilized. The man was sentenced to probation.

This is stated in objections Vladimir-Volynsky city court of the Volyn region.

According to the court, on February 10, 2023, the man received a summons for military service for mobilization. He was considered fit and on February 11 he was supposed to arrive at the military unit for service, but the conscript evaded mobilization.

At trial, the suspect pleaded guilty and repented. He said that he refused to serve in the army, because his brother is already at war, and he is caring for his parents.

The court found the man guilty under Art. 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced to 3 years in prison, replacing this period with 1 year of probation.

Recall that in the Ivano-Frankivsk region a 56-year-old man was sentenced to two years of probation, who refused to be mobilized because he suffered from cirrhosis of the liver and hypertension.
