Sami Basso, the man who lived longer than any other patient with cancer, has died at the age of 28 in Italy progeria.
This is a rare syndrome, which causes premature aging of the body. Doctors had told Basso’s parents that he would only live until he was thirteen. However, they immediately asked for help from scientists in Europe and especially in America, where research has made great progress.
Five years ago he was honored by the Italian president of the republic, Sergio Mattarella, with the title of knight of the Italian republic.
