A small passenger car was driving along National Highway No. 3 today, 126 kilometers southward on the Houlong section of Miaoli. It was suspected of losing control and hit the guardrail and overturned. The 27-year-old man surnamed Zhong in the car was thrown out of the car and died of serious injuries. The detailed cause of the accident is yet to be clarified by the National Highway Police. The Miaoli Fire Department received a report at 8:00 a.m. that a car accident had occurred on the Houlong section of National Highway 3, 126 kilometers south, and immediately dispatched the Houlong team to rescue the man. The man surnamed Zhong was lying on the road, losing his breathing and heartbeat.
The fire rescue personnel immediately applied CPR first aid, and carried the person into an ambulance to Daqian Hospital in Miaoli City for treatment, but the patient was still declared dead due to his serious injuries and the failure of first aid.
The national highway police judged from the evidence at the scene that it is not ruled out that the deceased drove the passenger car out of control, collided with the inner guardrail and overturned, was thrown out of the car, and suffered serious head injuries. However, many zipper bags and a twisted bat were left on the road. Therefore, the identity of the deceased and the car accident still need to be further investigated to clarify the detailed cause of the accident.
Yang Zongzhe, head of the Houlong Division of the 2nd Brigade of the National Highway Police, said that the cause of the accident is still under investigation, and the driving alcohol test value is still under inspection.
The National Highway Police appeals that both drivers and passengers must wear seat belts when driving on the road. If you fail to fasten your seat belts on the expressway, you can be fined NT$3,000 to NT$6,000. According to statistics, 30% of the fatalities in national highway accidents are caused by not wearing seat belts, reminding the public not to take it lightly.
