TRIBUNNEWS.COM – The death of one of the heads of the largest family in the world, Ziona Chana raises a question mark about the new leader of his family.

Ziona Chana has 38 wives, 89 children, and 36 grandchildren who live in the same house.

He died at the age of 76 in a hospital in Aizawl, India on Sunday (13/6/2021).

Reported Arab News, Chana is a patriarchal figure of a Christian sect who practices polygamy.

Before his death, Chana never mentioned who would continue his position as head of the family.

Chana is believed to have diabetes and hypertension.

“His successor will be determined by the church. First the burial will be carried out, and then the church will decide,” said Chana’s eldest child, Para Nunparliana (60) on Tuesday (15/6/2021).

Nunparliana himself has two wives and 11 children.

He is expected to succeed his father as head of the 163-member family.

“A special burial chamber is being prepared for our father, and he will be buried in the next two to three days,” said Chana’s daughter, Thartei Chhuanthar, 50.
