CLERMOND-FERRAND – Armand Duplantis broke his own world record in the pole vault with a performance of 622 centimeters at the meeting in Clermond-Ferrand. The 23-year-old Swede improved the absolute maximum by one centimeter.

The previous record had been valid since last year’s world championship in Eugene, under the roof Duplantis had jumped 620 cm so far. A year ago, he won the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade with this performance.

In France today, he first secured victory in the competition with a jump of over 601 cm and then immediately had the bar set to a record height. Twice he tried unsuccessfully to enter history, but on the third attempt the bar remained on the racks.
