The man went to take out the garbage in Prague, he was killed by a ruined wall. The owners were given conditions

“Seven people have been found guilty of a general negligence threat,” Humeni said, adding that they had originally been charged with a negligent death sentence, but the court did not find them guilty.

“All defendants were sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment. Their sentence was then postponed to a probationary period of 30 months, “added Humeni.

All parties involved appealed against the verdict. The case will thus be resolved by the Board of Appeal of the Prague City Court.

There were originally eight defendants, but one of them was excluded by the court for a separate hearing and stopped his prosecution in the case.

The tragedy occurred three years ago in April. The upper part of the wall, which used to be part of the house, but now stood alone in Na Neklance Street in Prague 5, collapsed just when there were three people under it. One of them was overwhelmed by the wreckage of the wall, causing him severe injuries, which he succumbed to despite the efforts of the paramedics.

“It would not have happened if the owners had invested a little. I’m very sorry that someone had to pay with their life to make someone realize that they should take care of their property the way they should, “said the deceased man’s fiancée at the main trial two years ago. He was only going to take out the garbage when the wall collapsed.

The owners of the house refused in court that they would neglect to take care of him. According to one of them, the architect Tomáš Prouza, the wall was in good condition. According to him, the defendants invested in the reconstruction, but there were buildings that allegedly had a higher priority. Miroslav Prokop, a retired civil engineer, another of the defendants, also spoke about the effort to invest in the reconstruction.

According to a forensic expert, however, the wall was long-term degraded and stressed by both water and wind and gradually deviated.
