The man entered a summer camp in Duncanville and unleashed a shooting was identified as Brandon Keith | Univision 23 Dallas Ft. Worth KUVN

DALLAS, Texas.- About 24 hours after he was shot, the Dallas County Jail identified Brandon Keith Ned42 years old, like the man who entered an armed Summer Camp and Duncanville.

Keith had a criminal record, one of these was for involuntary manslaughter after driving while intoxicated and was arrested in 2011, according to his Dallas County Jail record.

So far, authorities have not reported what led Keith to enter the campus armed and shoot.

Yesterday, around 11:00 am, Brandon Keith managed to get into the lobby of the Arena Field House, of Duncanville.

According to the Duncanville police account, the man got into an argument with people at the lobby entrance and then fired a shot, putting staff on alert.

No child or teacher was injured, authorities said.

The subject was killed, after a shootout with officers, and his car, a black SUV, was left in the parking lot.

‘There was an exchange of gunfire’: Duncanville officers

The suspect did not manage to enter the campus because the same coordinators closed the doors on time and police officers, recently trained in active shooting, detained him, authorities say that this was the difference in avoiding another tragedy.

“The suspect entered through the lobby and argued with a staff member and fired the first shot,” Duncanville Police Deputy Chief Matthew Stonger said.

In just two minutes the police arrived and confronted the man. No minors or injured officers were reported.

“Officers found an armed person and there was an exchange of gunfire,” said Michelle Arias, a Duncanville police crime prevention officer.

The subject was injured and taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.
