In mid-April, the injured man left a wallet with documents in his car, which someone had taken from him. He then arranged new documents without reporting the stolen ones. A month later, as a self-employed person under covid-19, he applied for a compensation bonus.

“Because it seemed to him that the payment of the bonus was somehow tight, he contacted the financial administration. There, he was surprised to find out that compensation in the amount of CZK 19,500 should have been paid to him, “said police spokesman Jan Daněk.

A few days later, he received an invitation to pay the installment for a mobile phone, which he did not buy. The man therefore went to the police, who found out that someone in the bank had taken out a loan of 100 thousand crowns for his documents. Police released footage of a bank suspect on Thursday.

The man is suspected of the crimes of fraud, credit fraud and infringement of foreign rights. Due to the commission of acts during a state of emergency, the perpetrator faces up to eight years in prison if convicted.
