Tohru Okada, the man behind one of PlayStation’s most famous soundtracks, has died. This is reported by the Japanese website Excite.
The PlayStation logo of all time.
Okada created the sound that appears alongside the PlayStation logo at the end of almost every commercial for Sony’s consoles and games. You can see a collection of how the sound has developed over time in the video to the right of the article.
As Excite writes, Okada was 73 years old when he passed away as a result of heart failure on February 14.
Through the collaboration with PlayStation, the Japanese artist also created the song for a mildly outlandish advertisement for Crash Bandicoot, reports Gamespot.
Okada is admittedly best known as a member of the band The Moonriders, where he played together with Keiichi Suzuki. The latter has also composed various game music, including for the Nintendo classics Mother and Earthbound.
