PLAYA DEL CARMEN – As part of the awareness month for breast cancer prevention, the Municipal Solidarity Council chaired by the president Lili Camposthrough the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) chaired by Rosita Escobedo Campos, it created the “Pink Month” which consisted in the implementation of prevention and support actions with 500 free mammograms.
The municipal president stressed that in the municipality all year round is pink, since the campaign will be permanent, even if in October, the month dedicated to raising awareness on this disease, measures are strengthened to call citizens to action, through self-examination. and timely diagnosis.
In the case of prevention, the “Kiosko Rosa” was launched, which consisted of an itinerant module with information for the treatment of tumors and appointments for mammograms were scheduled; the “Afternoons of Experiences”, with the presence of people cancer survivors who have shared their experiencesand the “Pink Conference”, with the assistance of doctors specializing in oncological gynecology who talked about timely detection measures.
As an initiative to involve citizens in the conscious fight against cancer, the “First Pink Race” was held, with the participation of 1,200 people who joined this event with a cause. Similarly, the government buildings were illuminated with pink lights and human ties were made, both in the 28 de Julio square and in the inclusive beach “Punta Esmeralda”, in solidarity with those who fight against cancer.
