The Mammendorf-Mering Box Orchestra wows Friedberg with Evening of Film Music

The Mammendorf-Mering box orchestra under the direction of Brigitte Kiendl-App and Siegfried Kiendl presented an evening of film music in Friedberg.

Where would we be without film music? Times are uncertain because of this music and many accepted this invitation: a full hall was waiting for the musicians, which was then a great encouragement for them. And not a little “dusty”: the big box orchestra presented itself lively and fresh.

Fiona Strauß played the flute in the ensemble and led the individual pieces with humor. The orchestra was strongly controlled by conductor Brigitte Kienle-App and she played the accordion herself in many pieces. In addition, drums and bass guitar supported the pieces played and Tobias Bartl also played the melodica.

Terrible sonority

The musicians of the concert interpreted the pieces perfectly and played fast-paced ornaments to the delight of the audience, who were generous with obedience. “The Pink Panther” (saxophone Gerhard Schuster) or “Winnetou” caused the enthusiastic audience to clap. But the accordion ensemble also experienced sensitive passages without any difficulty, such as Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

James Bond Concert Suite, with this piece the box ensemble enchanted the audience. The skillful changes in tempo were also highly praised. With movie music titles such as Star Wars, where swords were fought to the delight of the audience, or Pirates of Caribbean, a pirate ship that went through the divano, the orchestra played lively melodies with full room sound.

Abba in your luggage

After the break with snacks, the popular pieces by Abba entitled Money, Money, and especially “Mama mia”, which many people clapped along to, marked the beginning. Sister’s act and the song I will follow it was just as lively as Lord of the Dance. It is the most successful dance show in the world of all time: “Lord of the Dance” has delighted audiences around the world since its first release. This showed again in an impressive way the sonic surprises of the box orchestra with bass, piano and large percussion that is possible in the arrangement of Hans-Günther Kölz. The reward for the intense rehearsal work was thunderous applause and loud calls for an encore.
