A recent incident occurred in a food center in Singapore. A man “sleeped” on the seat of the food street for nearly a whole day before someone noticed something was wrong. It was finally confirmed that the man had been out of breath for a long time. During the period when the man was “sleeping and dying”, many people still came to the food street to eat without knowing it.
According to Malaysia’s “China Press”, a vendor said that the man entered the food center at about 3 am on the 19th. When Liu Zhenguang, a 66-year-old cleaner, came to work at 9:00 in the morning, he found the man lying on the table with a bowl of noodles on it. He wanted to say that the man was just resting, so he didn’t bother him.
While the man was lying on the table, including lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, there were people coming and going in the food center there, but everyone thought the man was just resting and sleeping, and there was no suspicion. It wasn’t until 8 o’clock in the evening that Liu Zhenguang returned to the food street to clean again, but found that the man was still “sleeping” on the table in exactly the same posture, and only then did he feel something strange. Later, other citizens also found that the situation was wrong, so Liu Zhenguang went to check and tried to wake the man up, but Liu Zhenguang couldn’t wake him up no matter how much he screamed. After 3 minutes, Liu Zhenguang called to report the incident and asked for help from the emergency team.
Liu Zhenguang said that before the ambulance arrived, the rescuers asked him to let the man breathe first by phone, but he found that the man was not breathing and his lower abdomen was also very stiff. Paramedics later arrived at the scene and confirmed the man was dead. The police said the deceased was a 56-year-old man, and preliminary investigations showed that there was no crime in the case.
It is reported that there are usually many elderly or drunk customers in this food street. They regard it as a temporary rest stop, and people often sit on chairs to sleep and rest, so the man’s condition is not easy to attract others’ attention. But Liu Zhenguang also blamed himself and said, “If I had called him earlier, maybe he was still awake and had a chance to be rescued.”
