Although it is yet to be decided if there will be a fair in August, the Malaga city council brings out the fourth contract related to the celebration of this event: now it’s about the fireworks. The public sector contracting platform collects the tender for the “pyromusical show on the occasion of the proclamation of the Malaga Fair 2020” for an amount of 40,650 euros in the “planned location of the port area”.
Paradoxically, the offers can be presented until June 16 at 1:00 p.m., long before the city council makes a decision on the celebration, suspension or postponement of the event, a decision that the mayor announced would be made at late June or early July.
Despite the total uncertainty about the August fair, the government team also put out to tender the musical shows for 600.000 euros (They included other events such as Carnival or the Malaga contest), cleaning by 70.000 euros for this year and the following two or the signaling and marking of the car parks, entrances to the fairgrounds and traffic diversions by other 130.000 euros.
One of the possibilities that the government team raises in the face of the health crisis is to reconvent these August festivities in a smaller fair that coincides with the day of the Virgen de la Victoria, patron saint of the city, on September 8; the councilor for Celebrations, Teresa Porras, acknowledged weeks ago that “the fair of 6 million visits” could not be held, although the hiring for the moment continues.
