DUBAI, 26 March, 2020 (WAM) — The UAE Billiards and Snooker Federation is organizing the Sheikh Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum Ramadan Snooker Championship, from March 29 to April 15, with the participation of 77 players from inside and outside the country.
The competitions will be held at the Union Hall in Dubai, and the Organizing Committee has allocated financial prizes of 30,000 dirhams.
Mohamed Abdullah Youssef, Chairman of the Federation’s Competitions Committee, explained that this tournament is one of the most important tournaments that the federation organizes annually and attaches great importance to it, given the strong competitions it is witnessing in light of the strong and increasing demand for participation year after year.
He said, “The tournament, in its new version, is marked by the participation of a large number of national team players, players residing in the country, and many international players from the Arab Gulf countries.”
And he explained: “Due to the high demand for participation in it, the participating players were distributed during the draw, which was held yesterday, Saturday, into 16 groups, the first and second of each group qualifying for the round of 32, which is held by the knockout system.”
He pointed out that a large number of UAE national team players are participating in this tournament, such as Khaled Al Kamali, Abdul Rahman Al Shamsi, Issa Al Sayed, Abdullah Al Attar and Mohammed Shehab.
