The maker of the new “Star Wars” film is certain: The “Loki” creator will become Disney’s secret weapon – Kino News

Michael Waldron is currently working on the Marvel series “Loki” and the MCU blockbuster “Doctor Strange 2” for Disney. And apparently they are so satisfied with their work that they are now entrusting him with the script for Kevin Feige’s “Star Wars” film.

Lucasfilm / Disney

Michael Waldron, as part of the team of authors and producers of the cult series “Rick And Morty”, already has an Emmy in his closet, but apart from that, the writer doesn’t actually have too many finished works to show. Even so, Disney is already very fond of him.

After developing the upcoming Disney + series “Loki” for the studio and working on the script for the MCU sequel “Doctor Strange 2” aka “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness” (theatrical release: March 25, 2022), that leaves Maushaus is now lending a hand on his other giant franchise:

“Loki” maker Michael Waldron should be loud Deadline Contribute the script to the 2019 announced “Star Wars” film, which will be produced by MCU mastermind Kevin Feige.

Rehearsed team

Since it was announced that Marvel boss Kevin Feige will soon produce a “Star Wars” film after his mega success with the MCU, the project has been quite quiet. Also when numerous upcoming “Star Wars” adventures were recently unveiled and the new film “Rogue Squadron” by “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins was unveiled and Taika Waititi’s upcoming “Star Wars” film was confirmed, Feige’s franchise was Post no speech.

But now there is apparently movement in the project again. It is no coincidence that Michael Waldron is coming on board for this “Star Wars” film of all things, after all, as the author of the Marvel projects mentioned, he recently asserted himself directly under Feige’s leadership.

What’s next with “Star Wars” in the cinema?

When Kevin Feiges and Michael Waldron’s “Star Wars” film will be released is still completely unclear despite the latest developments. However, the “Rogue Squadron” planned for Christmas 2023 and the film by Taika Waititi and “1917” author Krysty Wilson-Cairns, which may follow two years later, seem to have priority.

Feige and Waldron may not be on the move with their project until after 2025. Feige in particular should currently have his hands full with the further expansion of the MCU anyway, after all, in addition to the films, he is now also responsible for the upcoming Marvel series offensive at Disney +, which begins on January 15, 2021 with “WandaVision”.

Accordingly, it is not yet known what the third new “Star Wars” film will be about. Perhaps the new “Star Wars” era “The High Republic”, which recently started with books and comics and is set about 200 years before the “Star Wars” saga, will provide the right material:

In general, Disney and Lucasfilm are taking things a little more calmly after the mixed strategy with the sequel trilogy and the two spin-offs “Rogue One” and “Solo” with further “Star Wars” cinema adventures – while the universe follows the success of “The Mandalorian” in the series area will soon be massively expanded:

2nd season “Loki” & much more?

The “Star Wars” film is probably just part of a fresh contract that Disney has now signed with Michael Waldron and which shows how much trust the studio has in the aspiring author. He is likely to develop a few more projects for Disney in the coming years. It is already rumored that this also includes a second season of his Marvel series “Loki”, which initially looked like it was designed for only one season.

Disney seems to be very pleased with the adventures of Thor’s devious adoptive brother (Tom Hiddleston). Before we can convince ourselves of the quality of “Loki”, we have to wait until the start of series production in May 2021. But there is already a first trailer:
