The majority of Covid-19 survivors complain of shortness of breath

“Shortness of breath is the most common complaint,” he said during a BNPB virtual conference, Thursday (31/3/2022).

“If the complaint is shortness of breath, then we (doctors) can maximize their breathing and check how their lungs function. Then, give relaxation techniques or give chest therapy, to chest loosening exercises,” he said.

This means, he continued, this treatment depends on the condition and symptoms the survivors complain about. He further emphasized that the survivors’ complaints must be immediately identified. Because, the residual symptoms or long Covid-19 survivors will be related to the quality of life.

If complaints related to quality of life are not addressed immediately, fatigue, anosmia, and cough will appear. In fact, survivors can experience complaints of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), namely stress, a very busy job and the impact can be permanent.

“We don’t know how long the post-Covid-19 will last. This will reduce the quality of life,” he said

He asked Covid-19 survivors to also adopt a healthy lifestyle, apply good food nutrition, stress management, to appropriate exercise. In addition, he requested that the health protocols (prokes) be applied to survivors, especially those with comorbidities.
