The Major Events at the Opera House: Verdi’s ‘Don Carlos’, Opening Concert of the Season, and the Premiere of ‘Awareness’

* The premiere of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Don Carlos”. At the Latvian National Opera on October 5 and 7, which is a co-production with Naples San Carlo theater and whose musical director is the French conductor, composer, and pianist Frédéric Chaslain, and the director is the recognized German director Klaus Guth, while the roles are played by both our and foreign soloists;

* par Opening concert of the season of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra On October 6, in the Great Guild, with the orchestra’s artistic director, Tarmo Peltokoski, at the conductor’s desk, the first part of the program featured Eric Ešenwald’s Concert for clarinet, orchestra and electronics “Arctic Night Visions” with Anna Gāgane’s solo, and in the second part, Act 1 of Richard Wagner’s opera “Valkyrie” , to the performance of which the conductor had invited three Finnish singers: they were soprano Hannakaisa Nirenen, tenor Jirki Antila and bass Erik Rousi;

* par The premiere of Krista Auznieks’s mono-opera “Awareness”. In the Vidzeme concert hall “Cēsis”, the production of which was created together with the composer of the music by the artist Katrīna Neiburga and the four musicians for whom this monoopera was created: a trio Art-i-Shock (cellist Guna Šnė, pianist Agnese Egliņa and percussionist Guntars Freibergs), as well as a singer with a peculiar voice – Evija Weber.
