Close to Darnétal and Saint-Léger-du-Bourg-Denis, the Mount Gargan nonetheless remains a district of Rouen (Seine-Maritime)… A district certainly somewhat isolated from the rest of the city, but still Rouen. Peaceful place of life where the inhabitants live as in a village, it conceals charming little corners, green spaces of nature which delight families even if some would like the City of Rouen to pay more attention to their place of life. Near the school, a park, a citystade and surrounded by trees, the MJC has been operating its rebirth for a few weeks now and intends to become the heart of the neighborhood where residents can gather, at all ages. and for a multitude of activities. Meeting with Stéphane Fermé, the new director of the site, who arrived last June and who is overflowing with ideas and projects …
Put forward the cultural vocation of the MJC
“For ten years and the retirement of the last director, the MJC has continued to operate, above all to offer extracurricular activities and leisure activities”, notes Stéphane Fermé who intends, in the months and years to come, to develop the structure, bringing its cultural vocation back to the forefront. In MJC, we tend to forget the C of culture and only retain the Maison des jeunes aspect. However, in the Mont-Gargan district, the MJC aims to become a cultural center that will offer various and varied activities: theater, dance, cinema, conferences, family outings, garage sales, shows … and of course the reception of children who will continue … There is no shortage of ideas: all that remains is to orchestrate them! “We have already established a provisional schedule of events for 2021-2022”, indicates the director.
Multiple projects to bring the neighborhood to life
Stéphane Fermé also sees (very) far since the calendar to develop the MJC stretches until 2024, to increase the offer of cultural activities to the inhabitants of Mont-Gargan. “It’s true that it’s a somewhat forgotten district, but it has a lot of inhabitants and it is growing more and more. For the moment, there is only one school, the MJC and there are no more shops, ”describes the director, who knows that the inhabitants are waiting for activities. For now, the entire MJC team, which has also grown and will continue to do so under the leadership of Stéphane Fermé, is “in a dynamic”, and teeming with ideas to do (re ) live the neighborhood. Bringing in artists in residence, bringing the outdoor cinema back to life after the success of last summer, offering film concerts, open-air cafés… the list is obviously not exhaustive.
Web Radio: zero emission, November 19
In the chapter of the major projects of the MJC: Web Radio, already baptized RMG for Radio Mont Gargan, whose zero emission is programmed for November 19 and which will coincide in particular with the festival Chant d’Elles. “The room already exists, it is fitted out and ready to operate. All the material is there, ”notes the enthusiastic and impatient director of the MJC. The room has indeed been fitted out with special foams on the walls for the acoustics, the computer, the headsets and the microphones are ready… All that is missing is the hosts and speakers who will follow one another to bring Radio Mont Gargan to life… Note that Web Radio will obviously target the people of the neighborhood, but not only, the objective being to open it up to the outside world and to create in a way a momentum to develop it …
