This Thursday, April 7, 2022 between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., the Maison de l’Orientation de Montpellier welcomed the SNCF and the “un emploi en bas de chez moi” operation as part of the Pact for hiring presented on March 23 by Carole Delga , president of the Occitanie Region, and more than 50 public and private partners. Nearly 90 people were thus able to meet recruiters from the railway company. Rachida Lucazeau, regional adviser accompanied by several recruiters from the SNCF, were present alongside the teams of the Maison de l’Orientation to discuss with the candidates.
Via the operation “Un emploi en bas de chez moi”, the Occitanie Region organizes recruitment actions in priority neighborhoods. First partner of this operation, the SNCF launched a campaign of 300 recruitments in Toulouse, Nîmes, Montpellier and soon in Narbonne (April 12) and Millau (Date to come) with proposals for CDD, CDI, work-study or student jobs throughout the territory for the following trades: train driver, commercial agents on board trains, freight, equipment or catenary traffic operator, railway operating operator. The Region will also deploy this action in 2022 with the federation of coach operators as part of the recruitment of 550 school bus drivers on the liO regional network.
This is one of the measures resulting from action n°1 of the Pact for hiring: “Facilitate the integration of people from priority neighborhoods into jobs in shortage (construction, health and social, catering, transport …)”. The objective is to directly connect companies and job seekers residing in priority neighborhoods. It is thus a question of fighting against the stigmatization and discrimination linked to address but also against the “self-censorship” encountered by certain candidates who may fear not finding their place in the world of work.
Presented on Wednesday March 23, this Pact for hiring includes 40 concrete solutions to remove the obstacles to employment, particularly in sectors that are struggling to recruit, to meet the new aspirations of workers, increase the power of purchase and secure routes. Vehicle loans, childcare assistance, housing, quality of life at work, self-confidence: for each barrier to employment encountered by jobseekers, young people or employees in retraining, an operational solution is provided by one of the partners of this unique Pact, in all territories.
