South Africa’s ruling party could decide to remove President Ramaphosa
South African President Ramaphosa is accused of trying to cover up the theft of a large sum of money from his buffalo farm. Instead of reporting the crime, Ramaphosa had organized the kidnapping of the thieves and bribed them to keep quiet about what happened.
Keeping $500,000 in cash, tucked away in a couch, could cast a shadow on Ramaphosa as a scandal- and fraud-free president after the long-year reign of President Jacob Zuma, notorious for rampant corruption.
The vote for the position of leader of the African National Congress is expected in two weeks and Ramaphosa could become the third head of state deposed in 30 years.
