The main prize of the American Producers Guild goes to the film “Nomadland” – Cinema

The American Producers Guild (PGA) Award for Best Film of the Year on Wednesday went to director Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland, strengthening the film’s favorite status for this year’s Oscars.

The organization, which brings together more than 8,000 of Hollywood’s most influential figures, has managed to guess ten of the 13 Academy Award-winning Best Film Award recipients in recent years.

After years of pandemic constraints, cinemas in Los Angeles will only resume operations this week, and the offering of streaming platforms is expected to surpass traditional Hollywood studios this season.

More than half of the nominees for the PGA film nominations this year are the streaming platforms Netflix and Amazon, but the evening’s main prize was for the studio’s Searchlight film.

The Best Animated Film Award went to Disney Studio’s Soul, while the filmed version of the Broadway musical “Hamilton” on the Disney + streaming platform won the PGA Best Television Film Award.

Netfflix’s My Octopus Teacher won the Best Documentary Award.

This streaming platform also dominated the television award categories. The drama “The Queen’s Gambit” won the award for best series with a limited number of series, while the British royal saga “The Crown” was recognized as the best drama.

The last season of the series “Schitt’s Creek” was recognized as the best comedy, but the TV channel HBO’s show “Last Week Tonight” received the award for the best talk show for the sixth year in a row.
