Electric cars have their advantages, which are often mentioned by supporters. But if we look at the list of these advantages from the opposite point of view, it can be said that the positives can turn into negatives very quickly. What can be the main problem of electric cars, which at first glance appears as a positive?
Not using the brakes
Electric cars have the advantage that they can recover the energy generated during braking. In practice: when an electric car is driven in a controlled manner, it almost never happens that it is braked classically using a brake disc and pads. The brakes are thus used minimally, which extends the service interval. But it also has its dark side. Corrosion can appear on unused brake discs, the brakes do not have sufficient temperature, and when we need to brake suddenly, they do not have the expected efficiency.
Free charging
There are places where you can charge an electric car for free. It is often at various shops, hotels, restaurants or shopping centers. Many already calculate with this option when purchasing an electric car with regard to operating costs. The fact that it is possible to supply free energy to an electric car somewhere is only the good will of the owner or operator of the given charger. Sooner or later this advantage will cut off and you have to pay all at once.
Subsidy
An electric car can be bought for better than the list price. And that’s thanks to subsidies. However, it must be remembered that they are not for everyone. The last years in the Czech Republic are only for entrepreneurs. Many often start companies and businesses in order to buy an electric car more advantageously. The operation of every company, even if it is not doing business, costs something and in the end the savings are not as big as expected at the very beginning.
Availability of chargers
There are still relatively few owners of electric cars in the Czech Republic. Most of the chargers are thus empty and available, which will make it easier for every owner of an electric car to charge it. However, the number of electric cars may increase, and in a few years it may already be a common standard that those who want to charge at public stations have to wait.
