Last Sunday, December 13, the singer “José Mijita”, nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards for Best Flamenco Music Album with his album “Se llama Flamenco”, performed at the Municipal Theater of Olivares for the members of the Association Flamenco “Pozo Nuevo”.
“I come with a lot of desire, I will give my heart. The theater is very beautiful, I am excited to sing ”. José “Mijita” was eager to go on stage to enchant the audience with his flamenco recital that left no one indifferent. Martinetes, bulerías, fandangos, seguirillas, malagueñas or soleá por bulerías are just some of the palos that the public could enjoy in this Jerez flamenco show.
Among the artists Carlos Grilo has worked with, José “Mijita’s” palmero, are Miguel Poveda, Paco de Lucía, Falete and Marina Heredia. “I’ve been in flamenco practically my whole life, I started at seventeen, that was when I got on stage for the first time. Now I am forty-two ”.
The show was filled with good flamenco dancing thanks to the guest artist, Carmen Herrera from Jerez, who, moments before going on stage, only showed words of thanks to her companions. “I think it is the first time I have come to Olivares. My colleagues, what am I going to say about them, right? The three are great artists and come from a good line ”.
The event began with the words of the current president of the “Pozo Nuevo” Flamenco Association, Juan “El Coco”. Among the audience were a large number of olive groves flamenco lovers. The show also featured the presence in the public of residents from the towns of Albaida del Aljarafe, Sanlúcar and Villanueva, among others.
It is the second time that this association has summoned its members to organize a flamenco recital, the first at the Municipal Theater. “We are expectant. It is the first time that we come to the Municipal Theater and the situation with Covid-19 is not the best. Anyway, we have prepared ourselves so that everything goes well ”.
The voice of José “Mijita”, the guitar of Domingo Rubichi, the clapping of Carlos Grilo and the dance of Carmen Herrera gathered in Olivares to shake the Municipal Theater with flamenco sounds.
