MEDIA – He lowers the Iron Curtain. While he is organizing the final of his summer reading competition for teens this Wednesday, August 26, the host of “La Grande Librairie” François Busnel has just announced the end of one of his journalistic adventures at the microphone of Sonia Devillers on France Inter.
After sixteen issues, he puts an end to the review America. Launched four years ago with Eric Fottorino, it brings together the pens of writers from around the world every quarter to try to understand the United States in the era of Donald Trump.
It won’t go any further. “We had announced it, we would only serve one mandate, breathes the journalist. […] I think the story has been understood in four years. I think it would be a little crazy to put this in eight years [si l’actuel président est réélu, NDLR]. I don’t think we would have much else to say and in a different way. ”

A magazine “in very good health”
As the latter assures us, the journal is “in very good health”. Each issue sells on average between 30,000 and 40,000 copies.
He specifies: “A newspaper, like a radio station, is a pact with the reader or the listener. We made a pact with the readers, telling them that after four years, we will do something else. ” Four years have passed, what project will he launch? “We will find ideas, we will seek,” he concludes.
The latest issue ofAmerica will be released in January. It will relate, according to the results of the presidential election, to the replacement of Donald Trump (if the latter loses) or to the results of his first term (if he wins again).
