The Municipal Police of Madrid will start a blood donation campaign starting this Monday, next to the Community Transfusion Center, to increase hospital reservations and in which its 5,600 agents can participate.
As they have explained from the Security area led by the delegate Inmaculada Sanz, it will run until May 31 and will be articulated in five different points of reference (Ramón y Cajal; October 12; Gregorio Marañón; La Paz; and the Center of Transfusion of the Community of Madrid of Valdebernardo) where the staff of the Municipal Police can go to make donations.
With that, The municipal body thus joins the appeal made by the Transfusion Center of the Community of Madrid (responsible for supplying blood components to all hospitals in our region), since blood reserves need to be expanded to cope with de-escalation of hospitals, who begin to schedule surgeries and treatments that were postponed by the coronavirus.
The Madrid Police, who “has not hesitated to offer himself and has been the first Security body to do so”, wants with this collaboration “to sensitize and make the population aware of the need for existing blood”.
This initiative comes after the one also carried out by the Municipal Police this week with the Food Bank. These days, the agents of the different Integral District Units (there are 22, one in each of them except for the Center, which has two) have donated various food products to later transfer them to the Food Bank.
The initiative, communicated through social networks, has had “great reception”By the residents of Madrid, many of whom have also contributed food to the different UIDs to be finally donated.
