On Friday, April 19, around At 10.00 a serious accident occurred in Warsaw’s Mokotów district. According to preliminary police findings, the driver of the electric Lucida Air, trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle, made a sudden maneuver and hit a lighting pole. The car caught fire and burned completely. The intersection of al. Niepodległości and ul. Madalińskiego is impassable. Fortunately, nothing serious happened to the driver.
Lucid Air burned down in Warsaw: what kind of car is it?
The luxury electric car from Lucid is a competitor to the Tesla Model S. In the top version, it has a power of 1,080 HP, and thanks to a battery with a capacity of 113 kWh allows you to travel up to 830 km on one charge (catalogue data). Thanks to the presence of two electric motors (one on each axle), the drive is sent to all wheels.
Performance? Spectacular, i.e. “100” in just 2.5 s and 270 km/h maximum speed. According to the manufacturer, 20 minutes of DC charging allows for an additional 480 km of range. Unfortunately, the Lucid Air seen in Warsaw will no longer go anywhere. Advanced electronic assistance systems operating thanks to lidar and as many as 32 other sensors, detectors and cameras did not allow the collision with the lamppost to be avoided.
Lucid Air burned down after an accident in Warsaw: how long did it take to extinguish it?
This situation is fodder for electromobility haters and the topic will certainly not disappear from the covers anytime soon. It is worth noting, however, that no special container for sinking entire electric cars was used to extinguish the fire. According to some sources, the firefighting operation lasted one and a half hours.
There was a fire in the battery and the interior. The fire was extinguished in 10 minutes. After some time, the fire resumed, so the State Fire Service began cooling the fire, which lasted a total of 40 minutes
– explains Bartłomiej Derski from WysokieNapiecie.pl on Facebook.
Let us remember that the fire of the electric Lucida Air in Warsaw is a very media event (not only because it is an electric car, but also because it is a rare car). Meanwhile, burning combustion cars do not gain such publicity, and yet they often catch fire after a serious accident. It’s good that nothing serious happened to anyone this time.
