The most expensive and most luxurious train in the world is the Japanese Shiki-Shima. This is a futuristic 10-car train that can carry no more than 34 passengers at a time.
Shiki-Shima means “Island of the Four Seasons”. Japanese manufacturers launched this ultra-luxury residential train in 2017.
The trip starts from Ueno Station in Tokyo and lasts two days in summer and three days in winter. Lunch and dinner are served as the train rolls north towards Yuzawa Mountain Resort, and passengers are introduced to all the amenities on board. The final station is Hokkaido.
The train has very expensive furnishings and huge panoramic windows, as well as a glass ceiling. The service on this train is truly royal, and each passenger is given a glass of champagne after departure.
The interior was designed and decorated by Ken Kiikiki Okuyama, designer of the world famous brands Ferrari and Maserati. But the maximum speed of the train is only 70 km/h, which is only a third of the speed of modern Japanese trains. The cost of this train is $45,000,000.
The carriages are made in the form of two-story suites, which have comfortable beds, a living room and a bathroom with shower and toilet. Two more cars are given under separate numbers.
The end cars have a beautiful transparent seating area, and from there you can admire the beauty of the landscapes. They also have a lounge area and a dining car.
In the restaurant car, all appliances are designer and made of pure nickel. There are also the best chefs who serve dishes from the area through which the train passes.
All passengers during a 2-3-day trip are given an information letter in the morning about where the train is going, indicating up to a minute. Also, the letter provides information about the chef, the menu for the day, details of excursions, plans for cars where you can relax.
