A 14-year-old British cat named Bella holds the world record for the loudest purr, worthy of inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records.
Its sound reaches a level of up to 54.59 decibels, which can be compared to the noise from a boiling kettle, reported on the official website of the Book of Records.
The cat’s owner, Nicole Spink, describes Bella’s talent as something natural.
“She purrs all day long. When there is food or being cuddled, she always makes this sound. She also purrs when we watch TV. My late husband always complained that the sound of the purr drowned out the sound of the TV in the evening,” Spink said.
The family always suspected that Bella had the loudest purr on the planet. One day, while looking through the Guinness Book of Records, Nicole and her daughter decided to test their theory.
They downloaded a program onto their phone that recorded and measured Bella’s purring and confirmed their hypothesis. But for more accurate measurements, specialists were needed. After this, the record was officially registered.
As Cursor reported, scientists have found the answer to why cats stare at humans. Cats have always been a mystery to scientists, their behavior seems incomprehensible, and understanding what is going on in their heads turns out to be a truly difficult task.
