As popular as ever, the Lord of the Rings franchise will soon be entitled to a new video game adaptation produced by Daedalic Entertainment. A very original adaptation, however, since it will not be a question of directing Frodo, Sam or Aragorn, but Gollum.
After being unveiled in pictures last May, The Lord of the Rings : Gollum is talking about him again today thanks to a new trailer. Posted by our colleagues d’IGN, this teaser allows us to discover the dark artistic direction imagined by the studio. Along with this video, the developers told the American site that they envisioned their creation as a game combining infiltration and narration.
The game mixes infiltration and vertical parkour. If you want a reference, you can take Prince of Persia. It’s mostly a game in which you have to avoid combat, but Gollum will be able to bring his enemies to the ground in a discreet way. However, it will not be easy and it will always involve great risks. We want players to consider this possibility wisely. After all, Gollum’s strength lies in his cunning, not in combat.
The decisions you make affect how the game feels. You still play as Sméagol or Gollum, these “dominant personalities” influence the animations, sounds, certain gameplay situations, and in-game dialogue.
