And as expected, we go back to the forest of Pelargir. Because in episode 4 there is finally a reunion with probably the most beloved characters created by JRR Tolkien: the Ents. Of course, it was the tree-like creatures that intervened and saved Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin) towards the end of episode 3 – but probably more as a side effect of their crackdown on Adar’s men. One of them is hacking at the trees with an axe, and the tree shepherds don’t like that at all. The axe is promptly thrown back.

Episode 4 also introduces another fan favorite from the Tolkien canon. And while we already know the Ents from Peter Jackson’s films, this strange little guy is appearing in a live-action adaptation for the first time: Tom Bombadil, played by Rory Kinnear. He meets the stranger in Rhûn (Daniel Weyman) – yes, the Amazon series still hasn’t said whether the wizard is Gandalf or not. But we’d bet our pointy hat on it. FILMSTARTS video producer Sebastian Gerdshikow has put together an explanatory video about Tom Bombadil:

And even more new additions await us in the fourth episode of “The Rings of Power” Season 2. Estrid (Nia Towle) faces a nasty swamp monster. However, the so-called Barrow-wights are likely to spread even more terror in the second season, One of them can be clearly seen in the episode preview. The hand that emerges from the fog at the end of the clip also probably belongs to one of them. You can find out more about the grave monsters in this article.

Also back in episode 4: the Dark Wizard (Ciarán Hinds). Does he actually turn out to be Saruman? You can read the evidence supporting this theory here:
