The plot of the series takes place thousands of years before the events of the film and book trilogy. It is set in the Second Age, during which the Rings of Power and Sauron’s One Ring were forged.

Viewers can still look forward to some well-known characters, specifically Galadriel and Elrond, played by Morfydd Clark and Robert Aramayo. Isildur, the founder of the Kingdom of Gondor, will also appear, played by Maxim Baldry.

However, fans of the book are concerned about how much the series deviates from Tolkien’s detailed world. The creators were given a relatively free hand and draw only from the so-called Appendices, they did not get the rights to the book Silmarillion, which describes in detail the whole mythology and history of the Mediterranean.

The total budget of The Lord of the Rings is to climb to a billion dollars (21.65 billion crowns), which surpasses the work of the most historically expensive series, The Game of Thrones, from the HBO workshop.
