The Longest & Brightest Appearing Planet in November

Jakarta – A total of five planet will be visible in the sky in November 2021. One of them will appear every night and shine brightly.

There are many astronomical phenomena that will occur in this month. Launching the Space Science Education website of the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN), in the second week of November there will be a peak of the North Taurid Meteor Shower. This meteor shower comes from the dust remnants of the asteroid 2004 TG10, which orbits the sun for 3.3 years.

The North Taurid Meteor Shower has been going on since September 25 and will end on November 25. The peak of this meteor shower will occur on Saturday, November 13 at 07.25 WIB/08.25 WITA/09.25 WIT.

Planets that Appear in November

In addition to the Northern Taurid Meteor Shower, the November night sky will also be decorated with the appearance of several planets. At certain times, the planet will be seen clearly and shine brightly.

Venus will be the brightest and most visible planet on Earth throughout November 2021. The planet, also known as the morning star, will continue to shine in the east-southeast a few hours before sunrise throughout the month.

Launch NASA, from November 6 to 11, the moon will glide past Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter after sunset in the south or southwest. Here are the five planets that will appear in November 2021:

1. Venus

Planet Venus appears longest and brightest during November. To sky observers in the northern hemisphere, Venus will appear lower than the sky and on the left side of the setting sun.

While in the northern hemisphere, the view of Venus will continue to increase throughout the year. This phenomenon occurs because the distance from the sun is decreasing. But it will be clearly visible because as the earth revolves around the sun, the ecliptic night angle will shift upwards EarthSky.

2. Jupiter

Jupiter also appears in the sky in November. The planet is still near Saturn for almost a year after the big conjunction at the end of 2020. The positions of Jupiter and Saturn near this moon can be seen on November 9, 10, and 11, 2021.

Jupiter’s position is in front of the eastern stars Capricornus. Throughout November, Jupiter moves eastward every night, leaving the star Capricornus as it approaches December.

3. Saturn

Another planet that appears in November is Saturn. Although dimmer than Jupiter, Saturn is brighter than most stars. During November 2021, Saturn will move ahead of the Capricorn stars.

Saturn will be under the dim star Upsilon Capricorni throughout November. Saturn will also be seen along with Venus and Jupiter. In late November, Saturn will be almost halfway between Jupiter and Venus.

4. Mercury

Mercury is the planet that appears during the first few days of November. The planet can be seen above the point of sunrise and will move into the brightest twilight into the night until tomorrow.

This planet tends to be difficult to identify. However, Mercury can be seen on November 1-3, 2021 in the Northern Hemisphere. On the 3rd at noon, the moon will cover Mercury.

5. Mars

Another planet that can be seen in November 2021 is Mars. In early November, the so-called Earth-like planet will be 43.8 million miles (70.5 million km), but by the end of the month it will be 16 million miles farther away and will appear 27% smaller in a telescope disk.

Moon-Jupiter-Saturn Triple Conjunction

This week will also happen triple conjunction moon, Jupiter, and Saturn. This phenomenon lasts for three days from November 10 to 12 and can be seen from the beginning of twilight, 25 minutes after sunset.
