The long-time KHL hockey player will spend four years behind bars

The Peresensky District Court in Moscow ruled that Igor Musatov would have to spend four years in a general regime colony. The former athlete was arrested last September. The former hockey player in the center of Moscow met with a businessman who was engaged in investments. During the meeting, Musatov persuaded the businessman and sold the cryptocurrency. The detainee’s lawyer said his client did not plead guilty.

At one of the court hearings, Musatov claimed that what was happening had been negotiated and that he would be able to prove his innocence.

This is not the first time that a Russian hockey player has broken the law. He has previously been arrested for beating a bus driver, driving under the influence of alcohol, inciting a fight at a bar and fleeing from law enforcement, and has been involved in other scandalous activities.

Musatov last played hockey at a professional level in 2016/17. represented the Slovak KHL club Bratislava “Slovan”. Previously, he has also played in the teams of Vityaz in Podolsk, Avangard in Omsk, Lokomotiv in Yaroslavl, Salavat Yulayev in Ufa, Atlant in Mithishchi, Spartak in Moscow, Neftehimik in Nizhny Novgorod and Ak Bars in Kazan.
