TRIBUNMANADO.CO.ID – Many people infected with Covid-19 have survived.
Even so, most of these recovered patients live with long-lasting post-recovery symptoms. These symptoms can even become permanent.
This fact as explained by Dr. Rony Shimony, cardiologist at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, United States.
In his interview with Time, Shimony said he and his colleagues had noticed that patients in their 30s who had survived Covid-19 reported lasting symptoms.
These symptoms include kidney damage, decreased heart function, and cognitive impairment.
Shimony added, the sicker the patient due to Covid-19, the greater the damage to their organs.
“We are now starting to understand the impact on the brain, heart, lungs, kidneys,” said Shimony.
He revealed, this particular infection occurs throughout the body.
Therefore, people need to understand more about the impact of Covid-19.
“It really makes us more careful about what’s to come,” he said.
