The London apartment, the size of two king-size mattresses, is on sale for £ 225,000.

An APARTMENT no bigger than two king-size mattresses is on the market for £ 225,000.

The tiny studio apartment in Pimlico, London measures just 74 square meters.

The property consists of a single bed in one corner and a small bathroom area visible from the bed through a see-through door.

The kitchen, which is located at the foot of the bed, is a worktop with a built-in refrigerator and has a “combination microwave”.

The apartment has an “outdoor access area” which is a flat roof that overlooks a steep slope at the rear of the building.

The apartment is being marketed by real estate agents Jackson Stops and Chestertons at a whopping £ 3,378 per square foot – more than twice the average price for Pimlico.

Current legislation states that the minimum size for a one bedroom apartment in the UK must be 35 square meters.

The pictures of the property sparked widespread anger online after being posted on a Money Saving Expert forum.

One disgruntled user wrote, “This apartment is terribly small, hard as it is to believe the pictures actually make it look bigger than it really is.

“The entire property, including the kitchen and bathroom areas, is roughly the size of two king-size mattresses laid throughout.”

“This is really sad, I really hope someone isn’t desperate enough to buy it. For that you could buy 1.5 of my row houses with three beds and gardens, ”commented another.

In the apartment listing, the property is described as follows: “An extremely unusual, stand-alone studio apartment is presented on the market in Pimlico, SW1.

“The hotel is on the ground floor and is ideal for anyone looking for a central London location or making an investment.”

The nautically designed property is equipped with built-in storage space, a combo microwave, washer-dryer and refrigerator.

A micro-apartment in Notting Hill went on the market for £ 200,000 in July.

The 79 square meter micro apartment in Kensington and Chelsea has a shower and sink next to the bed.

Jackson Stops defended the tiny Pimlico estate.

“You won’t get a mortgage for it, but that doesn’t make it illegal,” a spokesman said.

“There are many apartments for sale under 35 square meters. You would still have to involve lawyers. The price per square foot on this basis is expensive.

“But the price of the property would make it the cheapest in the area and I can understand from a buyer’s perspective why they would be interested.

“A one bedroom apartment on the first floor could cost £ 1,500 per square foot compared to a five story apartment at £ 1,000.

“It is not the basis when it comes to offering the appraisal of the apartment for sale.”
