Traffic on the Sofia-Mezdra railway line has been restored
The locomotive of the Varna – Sofia fast train caught fire near Mezdra station on Friday around 11:00. All passengers were evacuated in time and no one was injured.

Smoke and a specific smell were felt in the area of the village of Kreta, shortly after the composition left the Mezdra station. The driver stops the train and immediately calls 112.
Hours later, traffic was reported to have been restored on the railway line between Sofia and Mezdra BNR extension. The fire was extinguished by the Mezdra railway brigade and fire brigade.
Passengers – about 80 people – were overloaded with a new composition. They stayed there for about two hours and left for the last station.
